Promoting a cohesive, innovative and effective academic environment

Contributing to the development of well-rounded graduates who will be better prepared to excel in their personal and professional lives.

Part of the Office of Academic Affairs, the mission of the Office of Academics and Curriculum is to streamline and enhance academic processes across UT, ensuring that all academic programs meet state and University-wide standards and that they align with the institution’s commitment to produce leaders equipped with a broad, foundational education.

Central to UT’s mission is administration of the University’s general education courses, including the University’s Core Curriculum courses. Also central to the mission is supporting curriculum management, assessment and evaluation, University accreditation, University testing services and performing research on curricula and student engagement, which are all integral to the academic success and continuous improvement of UT Austin.

Accreditation Management

Serve as the liaison to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), manage institutional accreditation processes and ensure compliance with accreditation standards.

Assessment and Evaluation

Oversee and manage the assessment of academic programs, service units and academic technology, providing policy guidance and operational support.

Conduct curricular research and expand the University’s capacity for using learning analytics to support data-driven decision making; collaborate with campus partners to enhance teaching, learning and accessibility.

James Pennebaker and Sam Gosling teach psychology classes using new technologies, including online learning modules, daily online quizzes and real-time classroom online interaction. There were two classes photographed: The first is a class of 500 in Burdine Hall; the second is a class in the Sanchez Building consisted of 40 in-class students and an additional 1000 who were attending remotely (online) via video transmission over the internet. The remote students were able to ask questions and send in challenge responses in real time via the internet.

Testing and Evaluation Center

Provide a broad range of professional and academic testing and evaluation services to members of the University community, residents of the state of Texas and beyond.

The Business Contracts Office and the Office of the Vice President for Legal Affairs have approved these MOU templates, thus review is no longer required when using as written.

About the Staff

Office of Academics and Curriculum staff support all units reporting to the office of The Executive Vice President and Provost through a portfolio of policies and procedures that facilitate operational improvement.
