Professional Licensure Disclosures

The University of Texas at Austin offers academic programs designed to prepare students to pursue professional licensure or certification in the State of Texas. Because professional licensure and certification requirements vary by state and territory, completion of a university program may not satisfy educational requirements for licensure or certification outside of Texas.

The University maintains professional licensure disclosures to help prospective and current students make informed decisions regarding enrollment, relocation, and employment. While every effort is made to ensure the accuracy of this information, state laws, regulations and licensing requirements are subject to change. Students are encouraged to consult the appropriate state licensing board to verify current requirements.

In addition to educational requirements, many states require applicants to complete professional examinations, criminal background checks, jurisprudence examinations, supervised clinical experience or other state-specific requirements before a license or certification may be issued.

Important Notice for Out-of-State Placements

Students considering a clinical placement, internship, practicum, field experience or other experiential learning opportunity outside of Texas should consult with their academic program before making arrangements. Some states require approval from the applicable licensing board before a student may participate in a placement within that state. Failure to obtain required approvals may affect eligibility for licensure or certification.
