Office of Curriculum and Academic Administration
Curriculum Change Proposals

What We Do
Curriculum and Academic Administration (CAA) serves as the university’s central hub for
undergraduate academic infrastructure, overseeing the full lifecycle of curriculum—from
concept to implementation. CAA ensures that all curriculum actions are efficient, transparent,
compliant, and aligned with institutional strategy.
Who We Are
CAA is a cross-functional academic operations office within the Office of Academic Affairs that partners with:
- The Office of the Registrar
- Academic Colleges and Departments
- State and Accrediting Agencies
We serve as both process experts and strategic advisors, helping faculty and leadership navigate complex approval pathways while reducing administrative burden.
Our Approach
CAA plays a critical role in ensuring that:
- Students have clear, efficient academic pathways
- Faculty can innovate without unnecessary barriers
- The university remains compliant, competitive, and forward-looking
We are not just managing curriculum—we are building the academic framework that supports student success and institutional excellence.
This approach allows us to accelerate approvals while maintaining academic integrity and compliance.
About Undergraduate Curriculum Changes
The Curriculum Change Proposals site serves as a central hub for faculty and staff to submit, review and track undergraduate curriculum changes, including proposing a new academic program (degree, major, minor, or certificate), modifying an existing program or deleting a credential, among others.
Timelines & Deadlines

Process for Submitting
The approval process for curriculum changes follows a structured pathway, beginning with departmental discussions and proposal development. The College/School Curriculum Committee reviews the proposal before the dean’s approval allows submission to Academic Affairs. The Undergraduate Curriculum Review Committee (UCRC) evaluates the proposal for compliance and quality. The Provost’s Office conducts final institutional review, and if needed, approval is secured from the UT System, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Once finalized, the college/school then works with the Office of Official Publications to update the catalog accordingly.
For full details, you can view the official approval process in this PDF: Curriculum Changes Process.
Ready to Submit a CCP?
We are currently in the process of transitioning in our office and updating our forms for the upcoming catalog cycles. We will update when everything is completed. If you have any questions during this time, please email us at curriculumchanges@austin.utexas.edu.
University Review Committees
University Review Committees play crucial roles in the Curriculum Change Proposal (CCP) process by evaluating proposals from colleges, schools, and departments to ensure educational quality and compliance with institutional policies. These committees, such as the Undergraduate Curriculum Review Committee (UCRC) review and forward proposals to the provost and other relevant approvers for final approval.
