Seventh Annual Faculty Authors Reception Showcases UT’s Scholarly Excellence

On Wednesday, January 21, 2026, The University of Texas at Austin proudly celebrated faculty achievement at the Seventh Annual Faculty Authors Reception — an event dedicated to honoring faculty members who published books in 2025. This year’s reception brought together scholars from 12 colleges, representing nearly 80 books authored by 75 faculty members.

President Jim Davis opened the celebration by mentioning the historical significance of the venue — the Hall of Noble Words — and the enduring words etched into its walls. He commended faculty members for adding their words to the institutional legacy of UT and reflected on the remarkable range of fields and perspectives represented.

Provost William Inboden, himself a past Faculty Author honoree, spoke to the emotional journey of writing: “The last time I attended a Faculty Authors Reception, I was on the other side of the podium, so this is a nostalgic moment for me. As an occasional author, I know well the tangle of emotions that goes into producing a published work — the hours of staring at a screen, the flashes of inspiration, the painful editing and the thrill of holding your author’s copy for the first time.”

The event drew University leadership, deans, associate deans, department chairs, and family and friends, all eager to explore the remarkable range of publications. This year’s works spanned topics from Jane Austen to Generative AI, and included scholarly research, rhetoric, poetry, children’s books, comics, textbooks, novels, art collections, photography and more — a testament to the breadth and depth of UT’s academic excellence.

Faculty interested in participating in the 2027 Faculty Authors Reception will receive submission details during Fall 2026.
