*Funding for 2023-24 projects has already been finalized.  The next opportunity to submit for LERP projects will be January 2024

The Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost funds an annual program to address the quality of our General Purpose Classrooms (GPCs) and related student collaboration spaces.  The Learning Environments Renovation Program is in place to provide much needed upgrades and refreshes to our learning environments. We are looking for thoughtful proposals that will improve the student experience and make a significant impact on the academic mission of the university.

The submission window opens on January 3 and proposals must be submitted by March 1 to be considered for funding.  Funding will be provided by the Provost’s Office in the Fall following the submission cycle to procure projects in the year following the submission cycle.

Example:

  1. Project submitted by March 1, 2023
  2. Project approval notification by May 30, 2023
  3. Project funded September 30, 2023
  4. Project construction 2023-24

STEP 1: Submit the project information using the form at the link on this page and include the following information:

  • Project scope and location, including building and room numbers
  • How the project will advance the mission of the college/school/department or University

STEP 2: Submitted projects will be reviewed by the Provost’s Office

The request will be reviewed with the following considerations:

  • Current condition of room
  • Current utilization and efficiency
  • Opportunities for improvement in utilization and efficiency
  • Design that supports creativity, collaboration, and focus
  • Design that supports equity, safety, and engagement
  • Value on investment

STEP 3: Project approvals will be announced on or before May 30.

If the project is approved, the Provost’s Office Academic Space Planning & Management team (ASPM) will be the primary point-of-contact for PMCS and will coordinate with the college or school.  For questions, please contact ASPM at the email address noted on this page.

Preferred proposals will fall within the following guidelines:

1. Opportunities for efficiency.  Addressing a number of rooms in a building or area at the same time with a light to mid-level refresh.  Scope might include, but is not limited to the following:

  • Walls/Paint
  • Furniture
  • Flooring
  • Ceilings
  • Lighting
  • AV Upgrades
  • White Boards

2. Opportunities to reconsider the existing design of a room to improve the educational experience.  This may include the following:

  • Converting a room to an active learning format.
  • Addressing the spaces outside the four walls of the classroom by providing student collaboration or study space utilizing furniture, technology, or other design strategies.

Please submit your proposal using the LERP project request form and be as specific and detailed as possible in describing the project scope and impact.
