The Undergraduate SERU Survey is now closed. Thank you for sharing your opinions on the UT student experience with us. We will share summaries of the results with the UT community during the 2024-25 academic year.
The University of Texas at Austin is part of the Student Experience in the Research University (SERU) Consortium, which includes peer universities such as the University of California System, the University of Michigan, the University of North Carolina, and the University of Virginia. The SERU survey, previously referred to as UTell Us for UT Austin, is administered to gather information on student engagement, both curricular and co-curricular, and provides information to help administrators, faculty, staff, and student leaders improve the student experience. There is both an undergraduate and graduate version of the SERU survey.

The SERU Survey is managed by the Office of Institutional Reporting, Research, Information, and Surveys (IRRIS) in collaboration with The Undergraduate College and The Graduate School.

Student identities and individual responses to the survey are confidential.
Students in the following categories are not eligible to take the SERU survey (both undergraduate and graduate versions).
- Students younger than 18
- Non-degree seeking students
- Students who opted out of UT surveys or solicitations
- Students who were not enrolled in the two most recent semesters
When the survey is administered, students can access the survey online using a single sign-on link posted to this page, sent via email, and shared via social media.
Both the undergraduate and graduate versions of the SERU survey examine various aspects of the student experience at UT Austin including research, mentoring, health and well-being, financial support, campus climate, and professional development.
The survey takes approximately 25-30 minutes to complete.
Students who complete the SERU survey are entered into a drawing to receive an incentive for their participation.
Results are used by UT Austin to improve curricula, increase research opportunities, improve services, and inform policy. UT Austin and other participating research universities contribute their survey data as part of a research consortium. The aggregated data is used to gain a better understanding of how to improve the college experience. When the data is available, it is posted to this page.

You can access the 2023 gradSERU dashboard, as well as dashboards from the 2021 SERU Surveys, by clicking on the links below. If you have permissions to view the dashboard, you will be able to see them after logging in with your EID and password. Please note that to view any UT Tableau dashboard, you must be on UT wifi or logged into VPN.
