Inaugural Recipients of the Faculty Development Award Announced

AUSTIN, Texas – Seventeen professional-track faculty members have been named recipients of the inaugural round of Faculty Development Awards (FDAs) for professional-track faculty. The University created the FDA program to recognize professional-track faculty excellence and provide funding to support professional development opportunities.

Through this funding, up to $10,000, can be used to fund summer professional-development effort and activities. In some units, faculty can also use the money to support attendance at and participation in professional conferences and workshops, as well as other activities designed to seed the professional-track faculty member’s continued professional growth.

“Professional-track faculty hold a wealth of knowledge and expertise that enrich the learning of our students and faculty in so many different ways on this campus. And this new award expresses our continuing investment in their professional journeys at UT,” said senior vice president for faculty affairs, Tasha Beretvas.

Born from the Change Starts Here strategic plan, the FDA program is one of many new faculty development initiatives created to support and enhance career growth at UT.

Applications for the second year of this opportunity will open at the start of this fall term.
