Online Instruction Workshops to prepare for the fall semester

Dear faculty colleagues,

In the upcoming fall semester, many of your classes will include at least some component of online instruction. To help support faculty members’ development in the area of online instruction, we are offering a four-week series of online instruction workshops. The workshops will start the week of July 27th and end on August 21st. Several day and time options will be offered in each of the four weeks.

This professional development opportunity will allow instructors to quickly and effectively prepare their Fall 2020 course for online learning. Faculty will participate in synchronous learning and collaborate in learning communities facilitated by course developers over the four weeks. To ensure the quality of the learning experience for colleagues and students, faculty members should plan to commit 2-4 hours each week for the full four-week experience.

The online instruction topics that will be covered include

  • online course design in Canvas,
  • online assessment strategies and tools,
  • student engagement in online courses, and
  • online instruction technology tools.

Program description flyer attached in email sent to faculty July 17, 2020.

If you are interested in this series of workshops, please use the link in your email to enroll by noon on Thursday, July 23rd. Enrollment is capped but we will do our best to accommodate faculty instructor needs.

I look forward to learning more about online instruction with some of you!

Hoping that each of you is staying well, staying out of the heat and finding ways to stay away from screens sometimes!

Regards,

Tasha
