Lillian Mills Appointed Interim Dean of the McCombs School of Business

Dear UT Community,

I am excited to announce that Lillian Mills will serve as interim dean of the McCombs School of Business. Her effective date will align with Jay Hartzell’s appointment as interim president.

Interim Dean-designate Mills is widely respected across the McCombs and UT Austin communities. She brings with her a deep understanding of the school, your many strengths and the strong relationships and connections across campus and beyond. Her record as a leader, researcher and teacher uniquely stands out. Such breadth of experience adds great value to the talent, resources and opportunity within the McCombs School of Business.

Thanks to the hard work and commitment of the faculty, staff, students, alumni and others, the McCombs School of Business is widely recognized as one of the most highly regarded schools of its kind. The McCombs community will continue to be an example of excellence through your contributions, and the Provost’s Office will continue to support your leadership to pursue this vision during this time of transition.

I would like to also take this opportunity to thank Jay Hartzell for stepping into the leadership role of interim president during this challenging period for UT. I highly respect him and what he has accomplished as dean, and I am grateful the university can rely upon his talent and wisdom as we navigate this evolving public health crisis.

I am confident we have selected a fantastic leader in Interim Dean-designate Mills. Please join me in congratulating her for taking on this important role as interim dean.

Sincerely,

Maurie McInnis
