Class of 2024 Students Awarded Impact Scholarships

High school seniors across the state –  from Dallas to the Rio Grande Valley – received life-changing experiences this past Saturday when representatives from the Office of Admissions surprised them in their hometown with $48,000 Impact Scholarships.

The Impact Scholarship program was created in 2017 with 32 recipients and has almost doubled in the number of awards granted since its inception. This scholarship program was created for students from across the state who are making a big impact in their local communities and covers the cost of tuition ($12,000 per year) for four years at UT Austin.

This is the third year that the UT admissions team has traveled to homes and schools of incoming freshmen, and the locations continue to expand throughout Texas.

“It is such an honor to recognize these outstanding impact-makers from across Texas. We care about their success at UT and beyond and can’t wait to see how these future Longhorns will change the world,” said Rachelle Hernandez, senior vice provost for enrollment management.

Students are selected for the scholarship through a holistic review process. A student’s demonstrated leadership, proven academic success, financial need, perseverance, and commitment to their schools and communities are all factors that are evaluated when selecting Impact Scholars.

In total, over 60 admitted fall 2020 students will be awarded Impact Scholarships. To learn more about Impact Scholarships, email Texas One Stop.
