Dear faculty colleagues,
To continue in our efforts to assess campus climate from the faculty perspective, UT Austin is again administering a faculty job satisfaction survey. This week, eligible participants received an email from COACHE (email@example.com) with a link to the survey. If you did receive it, I highly encourage you to participate.
This survey research is part of the Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education (COACHE), a national program operating from the Harvard Graduate School of Education since 2003.
UT Austin first administered this survey in Spring 2017 and disseminated results from the survey throughout the 2017-18 academic year. The results from the inaugural administration were insightful and supported the launch of new faculty initiatives on campus.
This web-based survey is anonymous. In a process approved by the institutional review board at Harvard, COACHE will provide their summary analysis to UT Austin by the end of the spring semester, as well as the confidential unit-record database, stripped of names and email addresses. The data provided to UT Austin will be received and kept on a secure server managed by the Office of Institutional Reporting, Research and Information Systems (IRRIS).
Neither I, nor any administrator, staff or faculty member outside IRRIS will have access to the unit-record data. IRRIS will explore and analyze broad patterns in the data to assist with planning and developing improved academic policies and practices across campus.
We welcome this opportunity to learn more from our faculty about the UT Austin experience. Data from the study will be meaningful only if we have broad participation. In 2017, we achieved a response rate of 36%. For our data to be meaningful, we need your help to increase participation.
