February 11, 2019
Dear faculty colleagues,
Following the successful launch of the President's Award for Global Learning last year, I am pleased to invite you to participate in the second year of this innovative program.
Awardees from 2018 are currently working on a variety of inspiring projects as diverse as measuring air pollution in India, exploring mental health issues in South Korea, and developing a needs assessment that brings together policy, housing and medical care in Mexico.
The application deadline for 2019 projects is May 1.
I encourage you to attend a networking breakfast for faculty members on Feb. 19 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the Student Activity Center Ballroom, as well as a match event to meet interested students on March 2 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the San Jacinto Meeting Rooms.
Initiated by the International Board of Advisors, this highly selective program provides funding for teams of faculty members and students to design projects with an international partner. It combines academic coursework with experiential learning and provides the opportunity to work across disciplines with students and international partners.
The President's Award for Global Learning offers honoraria to faculty members who serve as mentors to student teams, funding for international travel, and up to $25,000 for project implementation. Teams are invited to propose a project under the themes of expanding research, social impact, or entrepreneurship in one of seven eligible regions of the world. One proposal per region will be selected by President Fenves.
UT Austin is committed to empowering faculty members and students to take on the world's most pressing challenges together.
