Dear Faculty Colleagues,
As we wrap up another year, I want to send a heartfelt thank you to each one of you. Our faculty community is the heart of this University and a huge source of inspiration for our students. I’m proud of the work you’ve done and the positive impact you’ve had throughout the past year.
During my nearly 30 years at UT, one thing I have learned is that higher education is always changing. But what has never changed is our faculty’s dedication to pursuing new knowledge and educating the next generation of leaders. This past weekend, more than 11,000 students earned their UT degrees, a milestone that launches the next chapter in their lives and careers. Commencement is a great reminder of why we do what we do, and your dedication and support — your office hours, mentorship, teaching, research, scholarship and more — have made this day possible for our graduates and their families. We are truly transforming lives for the benefit of society, and we’re doing it on a scale that has extraordinary impact across our state and beyond.
We’re one of the world’s great universities because of you and your commitment to our students and mission. Thank you for your support as I transitioned into the position of interim provost earlier this year. It’s been an honor to serve in this role, and I’m excited to keep working together to move our University forward.
I wish you all a happy, healthy and productive summer.
Sincerely,
DAVID VANDEN BOUT, Ph.D.
Interim Executive Vice President and Provost
