Executive Director for Texas Career Engagement Receives 2022 Kauffman Award

The University of Texas at Austin is proud to announce that Executive Director for Texas Career Engagement, Norma Guerra Gaier, has been named as one of this year’s recipients of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE)’s Kauffman Award.

Named after longtime NACE executive director Warren E. Kauffman, this prestigious award honors those who have made a tangible contribution to NACE that significantly improved the association. Ms. Gaier has served on the NACE Executive Board in various roles, and most recently as a Past-President of NACE. During her tenure on the board, she elevated the awareness of DEI in the profession and led a national search for NACE’s new executive director. She is a frequent presenter at national conferences and enjoys serving as a NACE mentor. In addition, she has served as a faculty member for the NACE Management Leadership Institute teaching ethics and strategic planning.

Ms. Gaier has served as the Executive Director for Texas Career Engagement since 2018 and has worked in the career development field at both private and public institutions for more than 30 years. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated her dedication to community outreach, professional growth, and supporting both students and her peers in higher education.

“The entire Longhorn community benefits from Norma’s leadership of Texas Career Engagement and her unwavering commitment to serving our students,” said the Senior Vice Provost for Curriculum and Enrollment and Dean of Undergraduate Studies Designate Dr. Richard J. Reddick. “We’re grateful to see her exceptional hard work recognized by NACE, alongside so many outstanding career services professionals across the nation.”

Ms. Gaier received the Kauffman Award, alongside Edwin Koc (NACE, retired) and Kathleen Powell (William & Mary), at the 2022 NACE Conference and Expo in Portland, Oregon on Wednesday, June 8.
