Looking forward to working together

Dear Faculty Colleagues,

I hope you are enjoying your summer and have been able to spend some time with your families and friends. As I begin my appointment as provost, I want to let you know how excited I am to be serving the university in this role.

When I joined the UT faculty in 1996, I was immediately impressed by the dedication and overall excellence of my faculty colleagues, and this feeling has only gotten stronger with time. During the past 25 years, I have learned a great deal about the critical work faculty members across campus are doing, but I also have much to learn. I need to understand your goals, your challenges, and what we can do to support your success. I look forward to working with you to provide the opportunities and resources needed for every faculty member to build a successful and meaningful career.

I know many of you have questions about the fall semester, especially with the emergence of new variants of COVID-19. You can expect regular communication from the Provost’s Office with guidance as we approach the start of classes. We are also developing information and resources that will be sent to students and staff members so that the entire university community can work together to minimize the impact of the virus on campus.

There will be more to share soon, but for now I just want to let you know that I am honored to serve this campus as provost, and that I am committed to supporting our faculty community in the years ahead.

Sincerely,

Sharon L. Wood
