What we do

Vision

A flourishing and human-centered teaching and learning community that promotes a lifetime love and respect for learning and scholarship.

Mission

To enhance the Longhorn learning experience, which transforms lives through a culture of high caliber, evidence-based and empathetic teaching and learning, integrates physical and technological educational environments, and streamlines academic administration to ensure a focus on students.

The goal of The Office of Academic Affairs is to enhance the academic experience across the University. As a leading public research university, UT Austin attracts top faculty and student talent from across the world. Academic Affairs works closely with departments, colleges and schools to recruit and admit top students from around the world, create educational environments that are inclusive, innovative and accessible, and provide experiential and collaborative opportunities for a broad range of learners, including college students, entry-level job seekers, mid-career professionals, corporations and government agencies.

By using data, applying best practices and collaborating with the campus community, the office helps instructors create in-person and technology-enhanced learning strategies that enable students to thrive and supports the development and implementation of new education ventures that extend access to the University’s first-class educational programs.

The office also helps support assessment, accreditation and academic compliance, which is critical to the University maintaining its reputation for academic excellence. It leads efforts that strengthen cross-campus, data-driven planning and decision-making related to student learning and program outcomes. It also supports undergraduate curriculum management and the process to create and update academic units across the University.
