NCFDD Department Chair Success Program
The Chair Success Program (CSP), is a nationally recognized initiative facilitated by the NCFDD. The CSP is an 11-week program designed to equip new and soon-to-be chairs (and other academic leaders with similar responsibilities) with the skills, strategies, and support they need to lead their departments effectively while maintaining their own academic success. Through a structured, cohort-based experience, chairs gain practical leadership training, a strong peer network, and expert guidance from seasoned faculty leaders. The fall session begins Monday, Sept. 14, 2026. This year, the Provost’s Faculty Affairs team will sponsor a number of mid-career faculty to participate in the program. Applications are due no later than 5 p.m. CDT on Monday, July 13, 2026.
The faculty selected for the program will gain access to skills to lead more effectively, advocate for faculty needs and maintain their own professional growth.

This program is designed for current and soon-to-be chairs, as well as program directors and division heads with chair-like responsibilities (e.g. staffing, budgets, strategic planning, etc.). Faculty must not be on leave during the fall 2026 semester when the Chair Success Program is scheduled.
