July 11, 2019
I am excited to announce that David Platt will serve as the inaugural vice provost for undergraduate academic affairs, effective Aug. 15, 2019.
In this newly created role, David will partner with others on campus and advise university leadership as we develop an enhanced, campus-wide vision for undergraduate education. On a large, decentralized campus, he will work to collaborate with university leadership to promote and support curricular efforts that span colleges and schools. He will also lead efforts to broaden educational innovation and enhance off-campus experiences.
David currently serves as the associate dean for undergraduate programs in the McCombs School of Business, where he has led efforts to develop and shape the highly successful BBA and Canfield Business Honors programs.
David has been a committed member of the UT community since 1996, and I look forward to working with him and others on campus to advance curricular needs at the undergraduate level.
I am confident we have chosen a tremendous colleague and leader in David. Please join me in congratulating him as he transitions into this important role.
