ENDOWMENTS WITH UPCOMING END DATES
It is important to request renewals for endowment appointments proactively, particularly ahead of each new academic year. When an end date on an endowment appointment is retroactively extended, it results in an error in the VIP-Workday integration.
Run Endowment Academic Appointments with End Dates – RPT0952 in Workday to identify endowment appointments with end dates that fall within a specified range (prioritize those ending 08/31/2021).
Request renewals for holders of professorships and chairs through the Provost Request System, as needed.
Request renewals for fellows of professorships, fellows of chairs, and holders of fellowships through the Development Office, as needed.
UPDATE TO CONTINGENT WORKER FACULTY HIRES PROCESS
In February of this year, APS announced changes to the guidance for contingent worker faculty hires. To allow for these to complete successfully via the PAR, users must end contingent worker contracts in Workday for incoming faculty effective the day prior to the PAR Hire Date.
Using the day prior to the hire date to end the contingent worker contract maintains the faculty member’s access as they transition from contingent to employee status.
APS has now updated the guidance in the text of the PAR push error notification for contingent workers to reflect this change.
FALL PLANNING UPDATE FROM THE PROVOST
On Monday, August 9, Provost Sharon Wood shared a Fall Planning update with faculty across campus.
The message contains an overview of the new Faculty Flexible Teaching Modality Arrangement request for those living with immunocompromised dependents. A faculty member will automatically qualify for a flexible modality arrangement if their dependent has one of the preapproved conditions listed in the request overview and will allow the faculty member to move their course(s) and all meetings online for the 2021 fall semester.
The email also includes updates regarding classroom density and social distancing, COVID-19 testing, seating charts for contact tracing, masks, and vaccinations. Please share with your teams as appropriate.
COMMUNICATION TO STUDENTS REGARDING FIRST DAY OF CLASS
Students received a message on Monday, August 9, from Drs. Terrance Hines and Amy Young regarding COVID-19 testing expectations in advance of the first day of class. The message has additional information about vaccinations, masking on campus, and daily symptom screening for students. Please share with your teams as appropriate.
